    I totally agree that memorizing the key strokes to get what they need on a calculator is tedious (at best)…but they can’t use an applet on the AP exam.

    Yes, we always have to be balancing this idea so that students can be successful on the AP Exam. I do think that the writers of the AP Exam try to write questions that provide little advantage to a student who is extra fluent with the calculator. For example, the AP Exam has never asked students to use their calculators to make a residual plot, so I don’t think it is worth the time to teach students how to do this on the calculator.
